Providing Hope and Housing for Families Living with ALS

Matt’s Place Foundation, based in Coeur d'Alene, provides innovative, compassionate support to individuals and families living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). The organization is dedicated to improving quality of life by removing financial and physical barriers that often accompany this progressive disease.

A cornerstone of Matt’s Place Foundation’s work is its direct service grant program. Through this program, families with an ALS diagnosis receive financial assistance to make critical modifications to their homes. These modifications often include the installation of wheelchair-accessible ramps, widened doorways, roll-in showers, and advanced in-home technology systems that allow individuals to maintain independence and communication as the disease progresses. By addressing these urgent needs, the Foundation helps families remain safely in their homes while reducing the emotional and financial strain associated with ALS care.

In addition to grantmaking, Matt’s Place Foundation owns and operates two fully accessible homes that are provided free of charge to families living with ALS. These homes are equipped with cutting-edge adaptive technology, including environmental control systems, voice-activated devices, and specialized mobility equipment. The homes are designed to maximize independence, dignity, and comfort, while also offering a supportive environment for caregivers.

Building on this impact, the Foundation is currently engaged in a capital campaign to develop a multi-unit housing facility that will provide affordable, accessible housing for low-income families living with disabilities. This expansion reflects a commitment to serving a broader community while maintaining a focus on dignity, accessibility, and long-term stability.

Together, these programs create a comprehensive support system that combines financial assistance, housing, and forward-looking solutions for families navigating complex health challenges.
